Sustainability

We know that long-term success is built in partnership with the communities we live and work in; from the environment and the people who work at Helsinn, to the doctors and patients that use our products, we’re proud to take our commitments seriously. Helsinn has recently published its fourth annual Group Sustainability Report, “Quality of Life”, which provides an audit of Helsinn’s success in creating a more sustainable business in the following areas:

Acting Responsibly

Helsinn Group is an organization committed to ethical, social and environmental responsibility. We always work to ensure honesty, high-quality standards and integrity in everything we do. These principles are strongly embedded in our culture and, throughout our organization, we have always based our activities upon these standards. We know our employees, customers and partners expect our actions and decisions in business to reflect the integrity and respect that our reputation has been built on for over 40 years. Our commitment to doing the right thing makes this company special and is at the heart of who we are as people.

Quality Assurance System

World-class Quality Assurance is critical across several areas, including production and product logistics, management of our API projects (both internally and for third party CMOs) and for our extensive worldwide R&D activities. All our manufacturing sites follow the most stringent global quality, safety and environmental standards. Helsinn has been certified by several government agencies and organizations through an impressive program of quality audits and inspections aimed at certifying our company to Good Practices (GxP) rules and regulations and to ensure its compliance. Further, a Compliance and Quality Manual has been adopted throughout the company, which defines policies and requirements to be followed in order to maintain a GxP compliant quality system.

Third parties’ Code Of Conduct

This Global Third party Code of Conduct (the “Third party Code”) describes the principles expected of our Third party in the conduct of their business, an expectation which comprises an important component of Third party evaluation and selection. Third party should also apply these or similar principles to the partners with whom they work in providing goods and services to Helsinn. Fundamental to this Third party Code is the shared belief that business should not only operate in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, but that our behaviours address underlying societal concerns.

Compliance Program

Compliance has a number of key responsibilities within Helsinn, including running the Compliance Program, developing standards of conduct, policies and practices, auditing and monitoring activities as appropriate (then implementing corrective measures as necessary), identifying and addressing risks. Today, the legal and ethical risk faced by companies has become strategic due to the increase of legal norms, rules and regulations, both professional and social. The business conduct by and for the company should be based on responsibility and ethical behavior. By being compliant, the Company can reduce risks and threats and increase business opportunities. By reducing non-compliance risk, the Company commits itself to a path of even greater compliance, the creation of added value. Our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, ‘the Helsinn Code of Conduct’, is a key document and establishes the standards we must observe. It is a concrete sign of our approach towards an ethical and sustainable way of doing business.
